YPT Presents: Paratransit 101

  • ITE Headquarters 1627 I Street Northwest, #600 Washington, DC, 20006 United States (map)

Please join us for a chance to network and learn about an often understudied part of the transportation system!

Our featured speakers include:

Claire Larsson, Performance Analyst - WMATA. Claire will be giving us an overview of MetroAccess, including a brief history, how much it costs to run MetroAccess, and the challenges facing paratransit services.

Heidi Case, Chair - Multimodal Accessiblity Advisory Council. Heidi will pull from her extensive experience as a local and national advocate for accessible transportation and paratransit to talk about a variety of topics, including alternatives to MetroAccess, what transit agencies across the country are doing to work toward better paratransit services, and the user's experience with paratransit.

Carol Tyson, Government Affairs Liaison - Disability Rights and Education Fund. Longtime advocate and champion of disability rights on the Hill, Carol will survey federal-level resources available for paratransit and help us envision what the future holds for the field, including how emerging technologies like autonomous vehicles might play a part in increasing access for all.

Doors open at 6, and speakers go on at 6:30! Light food and refreshments will be provided.

The event is free for all YPT members, and $5 for non-members. We will be verifying membership at the door, so feel free to re-up or purchase our $20 annual membership then!
